General Information on Pigments:

Pigments are substances that impart color to another material or mixture. They have been used for centuries in various forms to add vibrancy, depth, and aesthetics to products. In the realm of resins, pigments play a crucial role in determining the final appearance of the product. Transparent pigments, in particular, offer a unique blend of color and clarity, allowing for the creation of stunning visual effects. When using pigments, it’s essential to mix them well to ensure an even distribution and achieve the desired shade.

  1. Ensure your resin is ready, catalyzed and in a mixable state.
  2. Start with a small amount of pigment, adding gradually to achieve the desired tint.
  3. For a light tint, add as little as one drop per quart of resin.
  4. For a darker appearance, use up to 1/4oz per gallon.
  5. Mix thoroughly until the pigment is evenly distributed.
  6. Apply as per the guidelines of the resin you’re using.

  • Always work in a well-ventilated area to minimize inhalation of fumes.
  • Wear protective gloves and eyewear during handling and application.
  • Store the pigment in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • If in contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water.
  • Seek medical attention if ingested or if there’s contact with eyes.

Common Uses:

Transparent pigments are widely used in decorative art, marine applications, jewelry making, and any project where a colored yet translucent finish is desired. Their ability to let light pass through makes them ideal for creating depth and luminosity in various crafts and DIY projects.
